Temporary eBay failure effects our applications

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

It seems that eBay has accidentally changed our developer account on their system, which is effecting all our eBay related applications.

Since about 10:00 GMT none of our applications is able to post requests to the eBay Server.
Instead you will see the following error message:

Your application has exceeded usage limit on this call. Please make call to GetAPIAccess Rules to check your call usage.

We hope that the problem is fixed around 20:00 GMT at the latest. We will update this blog entry with any news on this issue.

Update: We were just informed by eBay’s developer support team that the issue has been resolved.

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Just in time for eBay Germany’s shipping service change on August, 1st GarageSale 5.0.3 is available for download.

eBay Germany has introduced new services, replacing most of the shipping services German eBay sellers have used in the past.

GarageSale 5.0.3 offers these new services when preparing new eBay listings and adds a convenient conversion command to the Template (German: Vorlage) menu. GarageSale users can use this command to bulk convert any number of existing listing templates according to eBay’s conversion suggestions with a single mouse click.

New releases at eBay Live! 2008

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Right in time for this year’s eBay Live! in Chicago we are coming up with three new releases to make your life as a Mac user on eBay even more convenient:

Out flagship product GarageSale has now arrived at version 5.

This release adds auction template sharing on your local network via Apple’s Bonjour technology. You can now share all your prepared auctions (or only the ones you want to share) with fellow GarageSale 5 users hooked up to the same WiFi or ethernet network. Importing a template from a different Mac is as easy as selecting another user’s shared library, locating the right template and pressing the ‘Import’ button.

Also new is a report generator, that lets you create, view, and print customized reports showing a summary of your eBay income and expenses (this includes PayPal fees as well) for a user-defined date range.

Last but certainly not least is GarageSale’s new integration with YouTube. Once you entered your YouTube username and password in GarageSale, it will display thumbnails of the videos you uploaded to your YouTube account. Simply select the video you want to include next time you start an auction.

GarageSale is a free update to all existing GarageSale 4 owners, which means that GarageSale 4 licenses will simply work – no action required. If you are still using GarageSale 3, you can purchase an upgrade to GarageSale 5 at the Kagi online store.

GarageSale Basic is a simplified version of GarageSale, that focuses on making selling on eBay even easier – while offering all the features a casual seller would need. It ships with the same auction designs as its big brother GarageSale and integrates seamless with our free image server.

Also new is GaragePay, a PayPal client for your Mac desktop. It downloads all your PayPal transaction data onto your Mac for fast and convenient access, lets you create ‘Smart Folders’ to organize your transactions, and displays the current balance for all your accounts.

If you are at eBay Live! 2008 in Chicago, we’d love to demonstrate these new apps to you. The iwascoding team is at booth #1061 near eBay’s ribbon printing station.

Reminder: Scheduled GS Image Server downtime tomorrow

Monday, May 26th, 2008

As we announced earlier GarageSale’s Free Image hosting won’t be available tomorrow (May 27th) for a few hours.
You won’t able to upload new images and your auction images won’t show during this period – but once the system has arrived at it new home everything will be fine again.

GarageSale updated to version 4.1

Friday, May 16th, 2008

We just released GarageSale 4.1, a free update for all GarageSale 4 users, sporting several improvements and bug fixes:

Ignore for eBay warnings
Have you grown tired of those pesky eBay warnings about your PayPal payment being held? GarageSale 4.1 will cure this: When eBay sends you a warning during auction verification, you can now choose to ignore similar warnings in the future.

FTP Changes
If you have chosen to upload your images to an FTP server and this server didn’t allow for multiple image upload connections, you might not have been able to successfully upload your auction images. Starting with version 4 GarageSale uses multiple FTP connections per default. Unfortunately some low-cost web space providers restrict their customers to a single FTP connection. GarageSale 4.1 takes care of this problem by adding an option to use only single connection.

Please see the version history section on the GarageSale homepage for more information about what’s new in GarageSale 4.1.
