New Download - But What Happened to the Login?
Am I doing something screwy again? I just downloaded the new v of GS, and when I went to log in here, guess what? My username and PW were lost, too. Why is that? I had to go hunt and hunt for the stupid things. I thought my PW manager would remember them. Nope. I thought GS would remember them. Nope again. Anybody else have this problem?

Getting Info from Ebay
I am new to this program - I have tried setting up Cd's on ebay using the get info from ebay tool, but the information and images do not show on the preview - can anyone help?

I select from the Template window, Product info, do a search and check off all the info I want to import. But the only thing that imports is the title. Nothing else?

i get the message" An error number "SYI.BIZ.174" occurred while processing your request. " when I try to upload to ebay. Something about additem. What's am I doing wrong.
I cannot upload any auctions to ebay I get this wierd error message ...auth token is hard expired. User needs to generate a new token for this application..I don't know what this means anyone?? thanks

Anyone know how to tell GarageSale to use a specific email account for messages? I have several accounts and one specific for eBay, and it is a bit of a bother to always have to change the account when sending email from within GarageSale.
cannot enter license code! Please help!
So, I just purchased GS and now I can't get the program to accept my unlock code. The letters spelling out "Enter License code" are not highlighted and will not allow me to click on them. Can anybody tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it? I would love to be able to list a few items this weekend. Thanks
Cannot send mail from the send mail panel.......help
I have just downloaded the new GS version. And now I cannot send from the mail panel.
I get this error message: An AppleScript error (-2741) occurred when trying to create a new message: Expected end of line, etc. but found class name..
I restarted the computer etc, anyone have an idea on how to fix this. I have about 76 auctions ending today through Thursday, and would like to communicate with them through GS.

As a new relatively Garage Sale user...I'm having some real problems...hope someone can email me with a helpful hint...
started with the system about 1 1/2 months ago, and everything has been great. Suddenly starting today half of my auctions go up with no problems, and the other half don't. they are all from the same template, so i don;t know what the problem is. To fix this I tried downloading the new version of GarageSale, it downloads, but then when i got to apply it i get the following message that if i remember correctly it reads "you do not have permission to write the applications directory. are you running off a disc image?"
help if you can, as my life kinds depends on it (well....not really but i'm sure you understand the frustration.

Have you tried to do a permission repair? Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utilities > Select your disk and choose "Repair Disk Permissions"
GS 3.1 offers FREE IMAGE HOSTING for 5 imgages - but WHERE CAN I UPLOAD???
Does any body know where I can upload my 5 free images to the free image-server offered in GS 3.1 ? I cant find a menue or any hint on that :-((
ANSWER!: by simply selecting "GS-image-server" in the GS preferences options. You can upload up to 5 images for each auction. (thanks to GS-support!)
LIsting Design Template Limitations
I need to design a fairly complex listing design (well, for an ebay listing), and need to know the limitations. I have noticed the existing templates all use inline styles - am I able to use an external stylesheet, or will Ebay not allow that? Are there any tutorials on creating custom garagesale listing design templates? I couldnt find anything at all that was useful. My design needs to include:
- Image Header
- 6 Image buttons (watch this item, view other items, conditions sizing (takes to bottom of page), store home, newsletter signup, email link)
- Item Title
- Item Description
- Photo gallery with hover thumbnails
- A table with item specific content, like size, material, condition etc
- Static content such as payment and postage info
Is this possible to do? And once the template is setup, will it be editable (as in the content) within garagesale? If anyone can help by placing the answer below, it would be much appreciated.
Including a 'watch this item' button in template
I need to include a 'watch this item' into a custom html listing design template. Is there any dynamic code I can use to make this function correctly? Anyone have any ideas?

Found it! On the top bar go to Template>insert HTML link in description. Be prepared, you need the "go to" URL, and if you want to use a image (button) you need the URL were the image is located. The "insert HTML link in description" is greyed out if you are not inside the "templates" window. Cannot Upload
GarageSale automatically updated to the latest version and now I cannot upload any auctions to ebay. There is also an ! next to the template. I have refreshed the token from ebay but nothing seems to work...
I've been using GarageSale for well over a year. I've followed through with the updates over time some good, some not! I too can't upload...... I've also refreshed the token from ebay..... it's completely dead. Whats the problem,
can't see any other way to change any settings. Sorry, I updated this version!
Garage Sale needs payment options and immediate payment to work at same time
When you select immediate payment on the advanced page, you must have PayPal only selected on the options page - otherwise eBay will give you an error stating that immediate payment items must use PayPal only. Garage Sale needs to be updated so that you can select any payment options for auction bidders who do not wish to "buy it now" using paypal. Then it will display on the auction page on eBay that immediate payment is required for buy it now, but auction bidders can pay using other methods. The only way to do this now is to upload your auction and then go to the ebay auction page and click on revise your auction there. This is slower than using Garage Sale to revise. Please update and correct this - this program is much better than it was and it keeps getting better but still needs some work.
I retried these options by leaving all the payment options unchecked except for PayPal and checking immediate payment on the advanced page. The auctions I uploaded did display immediate payment only on the buy it now and allowed other payment options - they were not displayed in the payments section but were in my personal comments at the bottom of the auction description. I needed to learn how to use the program better.
jbeezz sez, it's not you. It wouldn't upload my pictures and then it wouldn't upload to EBAY at all. This was just the first of my trial listings but so far I'm definitely NOT impressed. I'll try again but from what I'm seeing here... well.. I'm probably not going to spend the money on it. At least not yet.
Hangs, Quits and can't get photos in since new upgrade today.
I've just upgraded, while downloading the upgrade it quit with the usual 'unexpected quit' window. Then it hung when I went to place a photo from iphoto.
The second time I tryed to download the photo the screen with the photos again had troubles, it moved very slow, couldn't be expanded to show more then 3 photos at a time, couldn't choose a photo, the scroll went at about 3 photos down every 10 seconds (i have thousands of photos so you can imagine how long this took).
I went and made a special 'ebay folder' in iphoto so I wouldn't have to scroll through so many shots, but even then it was still as slow, plus when I finally got to the photo I needed and tryed dragging it into the bottom window (double clicking on it made the program quit the time before) it just dissapeared, the screen with the photos fragmented so I was looking at meaningless squares.
I have quit it again and will retry one more time, but so far I've wasted about an hour with this for an auction I need to get up today. I am so wishing I hadn't run the upgrade, it ran perfectly before and I only recently purchased it, in fact I've only had one auction with it since I payed for it, so this timing is not very fun.
Any ideas to help? Anyway to get back to the version before the update? I can't see any contact us details on this page or any one else with the same problems - how can I contact the manufacturer to make sure they know of the problem?
I'm using an intel core 2 duo imac with 10.4.8, i tryed quitting all other programs in case there was some interaction and doing a restart but nada.

When I click on help, I get this list of comments from other people who need help and NO ANSWERS.
I can find on place ot upload a listing and, now that I have paid for the program, I find it does not support store listings!

Garagesale does support store listings. On Advanced page you need to select "list as a store item"
No I have also tried to list items in the store and it is greyed out. I have also tried to get support and have only found this page.

I agree... I haven't purchased yet because I wanted to try it first. I put my listing together and GS wouldn't upload my pictures. I figured well, I'll just go ahead and list it anyway and add the pics later doing an edit but it wouldn't even send the listing to E-Bay. Looking for help was a waste of time. As you say there are no answers anywhere.
They have some serious problems to work out. I was using 3.3 not even the new 4 because of all of the problems that I saw others have with it. Apparently they have even screwed up the older editions as well.
I'll try it again but it seems likely that I won't be making a purchase.
how do you run a multiple item auction with Garage Sale?
I'd like to run an auction, listing multiple items at the same price and allowing buyers to bid on the items and specify the quantity of the items they would like to purchase. This will allow multiple buyers to bid on the same item and set the price while specifying the quantity of the item they wish to buy. How can I do this in Garage Sale?
HOW TO CHANGE "SHIPS TO" ON EBAY
I am new to Garage Sale, and can't figure out how to get my ebay auctions to indicate that I will ship items worldwide. No matter what I seem to do, my auctions read "Ships To: United States"

Garage Sale makes errors in calculating USPS 1st class postage
When trying to revise an auction to include 1st class postage Garage sale gets an error 219021 package weight exceeded maximum allowable limit for service USPS First class mail - I have the weight set at 8 ounces or below. Please correct this in next update. Thank you.
Not revising listings properly
When you revise a listing to no longer include a reserve price by un-checking the box and send it in the reserve price does not get removed.
On the eBay revise page you need to clear the reserve price edit field and then submit the revision to eBay.
How can you get it to work with Garage Sale? Is this a bug?
yes - garage sale will not revise some auctions properly - mainly when you change auction type - you have to sign on to eBay and revise it on their pages :(
Revising to BuyItNow only fails
When trying to revise an auction to a BuyItNow only type auction GarageSale returns an error code 302 and says something about referencing the API. What needs to be done to fix this bug?

Update Garage Sale to update My EBay pages
Please Update Garage Sale to update itself and the My eBay pages when items are paid for, shipped, feedback left etc. - now you have to sign on to ebay and do it yourself.

Frozen templates problem - GS won't preview
I downloaded new templates today and it said there was an error with some files. Now GS will not allow previews of but one selected template and it is taking forever to switch from design to preview. The program has become unusuable... I don't see any way to contact support! Help!
I have to second this. I have the same problem, I even tried deleting all the templates from ~/Library/Application support/GarageSale and let it re download the templates and still get the same behavior
Update: iwascoding released an updated version of GarageSale but it does not appear when you check update as of yet. These new template versions are fro the new update and break the preview when used with prior version. YOu can download the updated file from http://www.iwascoding.de/downloads/GarageSale_3.1.3.dmg
We updated an Imac and a Macbook Pro today. The Imac is slow (5-8 secs.) but it will allow me to preview and change designs. The Macbook Pro basically freezes solid! HELP!
Cannot Upload Auction to Ebay
I reinstalled Garage sale with all the right information. GarageSale automatically updated to the latest version and now I cannot upload any auctions to ebay. There is also an ! next to the template. I have refreshed the token from ebay but nothing seems to work. After clicking start auction, first 2 phases are OK but upload to ebay fails. Please help
Garage sale won't update finished, especially bought items. Although items have been bought, garage sale shows them as still running! I am checking regularly for updates and I manually update it by clicking on the "download auction states" but it still doesn't update. Please help! Anyone else has the same problem?
Smart groups
I've been using GarageSale for about 14 Months to sell on ebay, last week as I was listing some items for auction, but when I send to auction, I get a message "Cannot open host: username and/or password was not accepted for login." Than I go to preferences and try and reset the info, I go through the procedure and when it comes to Refresh token, the button is not active and won't allow me to fetch token. I've been battling this for a week, please help. I even Upgraded to GarageSale 4.0 and still no difference.
Description area bugging out while typing in Template Edit
As I type a description in the template edit, every time I hit the DELETE key, the text bugs out. It duplicates random areas of the text and places it over other text and can not be deleted or moved. I thought about Text blocks but never added a block and can't see a block on the page. Please help.

Scan Barcode Doesn't Seem to Work
I am trying to enter CD's for sale at eBay and cannot seem to get the barcode reader through my built in camera to work. There is nothing more than basic information in the owners manual. I get the screen up with a red line across and I have tried getting it to read and nothing happens. What is the trick?
eBay Store w/ Garagesale

Error Message After Garage Sale Auto Updated Today on 9/14/2007
I can now no longer gain access to my established eBay account to upload auctions I create in Garage Sale. I get the following error message, "We're sorry, but before you list an item, you must create a seller's account by submitting a valid credit card through our secure form." I have been selling fine on eBay for several months, and no issues with either eBay or Garage Sale until todays software update. Does anyone have a work around??? Please advise ASAP. Thanks!
Solution Found - "ID Verify" Must Be Active To Use Garage Sale
I found a workaround using Garage Sale -- eBay requires "ID Verify" -- so you have to give your Drivers Licence not your credit card. As soon as I did this with eBay -- Garage Sale started working again. Suggestion: Add an "ID Verify" tab in preference to fix problem for new users in the future. Thanks!
Bulk Tax Revision?
Is there any way to bulk change the tax rate on all my auctions at once? Our local tax rate changed and I have over 500 templates..... Gulp!

Templates - blank space before . . . html code?
I'm just starting out with Garage Sale and taking my old html and inserting it into the edit description but when it's previewed in the templates there's this huge amount of space from the top to where my html starts. It's a table and there is no space on top in the original html doc.
I hope that makes sense.

An error has been received by the Ebay server: 932 Auth token is hard expired, User needs to generate a new token for this application.
ANSWER
You just need to renew your password set up. 1) Go to 'Preferences' in Garage Sale (It is under 'Garage Sale' in the top menu) 2) Choose 'Accounts' 3) Select your account 4) choose 'refresh token' 5) follow the prompts to generate the new token

I uploaded a heap of auctions today but the images are missing from all of them. have garage sale server selected in the preferences, and has worked ok before now. any ideas, or how i can rectify?
eBay discount lost
I've been using GS for about four months now and love it. eBay just started a free gallery image promotion. I went to start an auction with a free gallery image and eBay keeps wanting to charge me for it. Anyone else have this prroblem? Anyone have a solution?

Changing default image load location
Is there anyway to change the folder gs goes to when clicking the add image button. It defaults to the documents folder, but that's not where I store my images.
And yeah, I just browse out to the location I need to so it works, but it seems like it would be an easy preference to change, and when your doing hundreds of listings even a second or two more spent on each listing adds up.
Relisting problems.
When I relist some auctions, they do not show up in my list of active auctions. They are listed in among my templates and show to be active, but not in the auction list. What's going on? Is there a recommended way to relist auctions using the previous template?

Widget Doesn't Work
On two of my machines, the header bar of the widget reads "Undefined," and no amount of refreshing will load any auctions. The widget works brilliantly one my desktop, but refuses to do a thing on my two laptops.
I've refreshed tokens, no dice.
Gallery Image distortion
Hi,
For some reason, when I add a photo as the gallery image / 1st display image, it becomes distorted when shown in the ad. Does anyone else have this problem? Or does it straighten out when the add is uploaded to eBay? (I am only doing the template at present as I don't want to use an ad with an unrepresentative photo) Also I too would like to now if the scheduler will wake my Mac from sleep, and if not, can we have that feature in the next update? This is a pretty cool app on the whole, way more friendly than battling with eBay interface.

New Download problems
First few times the software would not open and crashed. Now it just freezes with the past scheduled auctions asking if I would like to start them. I can not get past the screen. Help!!! I am very dissatisfied with this download, it is a nightmare. I have had great success with past versions but this release is awful.

Version PLEASE.... 3.4.2
If people would always give the version number that they are using it would really help. I am using 3.4.2 after starting off with 4.? and having awful problems. I then took someone's advice and downloaded the last of 3 and what a difference! I have had none of the problems that I read here and I have used the heck out of 3.4.2.
I suggest we all stay away from 4.whatever until they fix it.
Selling digital items
Anyone know about the digital delivery drop down menu? If I fill in the download url does that just give my plans away to the world? Been afraid to fill that in as GS won't give the results in preview and once I launch to ebay it might be too late to take it back!

I emailed the company before I downloaded this update and asked them if they got the bugs for uploading out yet and they said yes it works now. well I tried it again and error connecting to host ebay.. cant upload still. Is this version dead?

I have been using this GarageSale off and on for a little while. It's been fairly decent and easy to quickly create and post auctions on Ebay. Well, I have just begun creating a few auctions to clean out the closet and office. Everything has been running fine until the stupid thing told me that there is a newer version and asked if I wanted to update everything. Well, who would say no??? Well, it failed to mention that by updating would require you to pay for that update!!!! I wouldn't have done the update if I knew it would screw me out of more money!!! How do I get the old version back that I paid for?

Email Templates blank
When I try to send an email running 4.1 on a new iMac OS 10.5.2, 2.8 GHz Duo core, 2GB Ram the email template is blank, even though the code is there.
I can't send the blank email either.
It works once if I restart and then again, it does not. I really need this function, as email mgt. is why I bought this thing.

Paypal email address ERROR
When trying to upload to ebay first I got an error about my token being expired. I finally figured out how to fix that and now I am getting an error that says: "Missing Paypal Address You have enabled PayPal as an payment option. Please enter your PayPal email address in the 'Accounts' section in GarageSale's Preferences." I went to preferences> accounts and my paypal email address is entered and is correct. Still won't let me upload. PLEASE HELP!
