Relisting

The process of starting a new auction from an existing, ended auction is called relisting. Relisting auctions is useful for two reasons:

  • Ended auctions that haven't received any bids can be started again without paying listing fees twice. This is usually called a "second chance offer". eBay will credit you the listing fee for your original auction after your item has been sold. See the eBay website for more infor regarding their relisting feature: eBay Relisting policies
  • Relisting Fixed price items will preserve the Best Match Rank of the original item. However, you can still loose your Best Match Rank if you change too many aspects of the original auction during the relisting. Please see this eBay help page for more information on Best Match.

You can relist ended auctions in GarageSale from the auction template you used to start the original auction.

There are two methods for invoking GarageSale's relist function:

Relisting auctions that were started from the same template

Select the auction template you originally used to start the auction.

Go to the auctions section of the template (on the right).

In the list of auctions started from the template...

Select the auction you want to relist and click on the Relist button.

A dialog will appear where you can choose if you want to relist the selected auctions unchanged, or with some or all changes you have made to the auction template in GarageSale since you originally listed or last revised the original auction:

Remember that you will loose your Best Match rank for Fixed Price Items if you relisting with any major changes (for example, changes to title, category, condition, increasing price, etc.).

Relisting auctions started from different templates

You can also relist several auctions at once. This feature is also called bulk relist or batch relist by some users.

First, you select the templates you have started the auctions with you want to relist. You can hold down the shift key or command key on your keyboard to select multiple templates at once:
Then you choose Relist Auctions... from the Template menu.

A panel will appear that allows you to fine tune your selection. In this panel your auctions are organized by auction templates. You can select any combination of auctions or auction templates. Hold down the shift or command key on your keyboard to select multiple items.

Selecting a template will mark all auctions for that template for relisting. You can also cherry pick a certain auction from a template. If an auction is marked for relisting it's title will appear in bold letters.

The number of auctions currently marked for relisting is shown below the outline view.

Finally click the Relist button.

Automatic Relist Feature

With GarageSale's auto-restart feature in the Auctions tab in the Template Inspector you can auto-relist ended auctions. Using "relist" will preserve the existing search rank of your ended auction and carry it over to the re-listed auction. Since GarageSale 6.4 this feature is linked with GarageSale’s inventory management. If you have less inventory in stock than what you are offering for sale in your auction template, GarageSale will not start the auction.

Relisting Options

Start New Item: This will start a brand new item. The item will exactly match the current auction template. You will not retain any recent sales information and will ultimately be harmed in best match.

Relist with changes: If you choose relist with changes, the item will be started and exactly match the current auction template and all its changes. The item will retain its recent sales history unless you have raised the price of the item or changed the title of the item.

Relist without changes: If you choose relist without changes, the item will be relisted in the exact state it was in when the item ended. The item will retain its recent sales history.
